Wellbore historyGeneralWell 6607/2-1 was drilled in the Någrid syncline between the Utgard high and the Nyk High in the Norwegian Sea. The main purpose of drilling the Cygnus 6607/2-1 Exploration well was to test the Palaeocene intervals for hydrocarbons. The primary target was the Thanetian turbidite sandstones, while the Danian turbidite sandstones were a secondary target.Operations and resultsWildcat well 6607/2-1 was spudded with the semi-submersible installation Transocean Leader on 9 February 2007 and drilled to TD at 3526 m in the Late Cretaceous Springar Formation. The well was drilled with seawater/hi-vis sweeps/PAC down to 1425 m and with Ultradril water based mud from 1425 m to TD.The primary target Thanetian sandstones were encountered as an interbedded sandstone/siltstone/claystone interval between 1994 -2027 m. The interval is interpreted as a major Pliocene ? Eocene unconformity from 1994 to 2007 m with Early Eocene from 2007 to 2027 m. The secondary target, Danian turbidite sandstone, was not present. Shows were not recorded apart from poor shows in cuttings from a thin limestone bed at 3460 m in the Springar Formation.No cores were cut and no wire line fluid samples were taken.The well was permanently abandoned on 26 March 2007 as a dry well.TestingNo drill stem test was performed.
